iPhone 14 Expected to Come With Significantly Faster Lightning Port

People familiar with the matter have revealed on several occasions that Apple was considering a switch from the Lightning connector to USB-C on the iPhone.

But if it’s not clear already, Apple has no intention of doing this, and the upcoming iPhone 14 is very unlikely to represent any change in this regard.

In other words, the new iPhone generation projected to launch in September will continue to use Lightning, with almost no chance of seeing USB-C making its way to the iPhone anytime soon.

Improved speed

But the good news is that Apple is actually planning a substantial performance upgrade for its proprietary connector.

The current Lightning port uses USB 2.0 speeds, and while Apple won’t be making the switch to USB-C with the release of the iPhone 14, it at least plans to upgrade its own connector to USB 3.0 speeds.
