Apple is expected to feature a 5.8-inch OLED display on its upcoming iPhone 8, while the other two phones set to launch this year will have IPS LCD screens. A new report from Patently Apple says that the company plans to use OLED displays in all iPhones by 2019.
Reportedly, Apple will use three Korean suppliers for flexible circuit boards for the iPhone 8. Apple is expected to equip about 60 million iPhones with OLED screens and double the adoption next year. It also intends to use OLED for all of its new iPhones by 2019.
This would mean that the upcoming iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will be the last iPhones to feature IPS LCD displays, before Apple switches to OLED completely. However, the report should be taken with a grain of salt, considering that the source is an ind… (read more)
