The Apple device installed base has reached another record, with the Cupertino-based tech giant confirming as part of its latest earnings report that the number has just surpassed the 2 billion units threshold.
In other words, this is how many active Apple devices are out there in the world, with CEO Tim Cook saying that the company added over 150 million devices over the last year alone.
Asked by Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring if the figure is correct, Cook said that Apple managed to grow especially in emerging markets, including India and Brazil, where its devices sold like hotcakes.
“The installed base is now over 2 billion active devices, as you mentioned. And we set records across each geographic segment and major product category. And so it was a broad-based change,” Cook said.
