iPhone X Becomes the Number One Smartphone Worldwide

It’s believed the iPhone X is selling well below expectations, with evidence from the supply chain apparently confirming this theory, as Apple itself has reportedly reduced orders for new parts.

But according to new data from Counterpoint Research, iPhone X was simply the best-selling smartphone worldwide in February ahead not only of all other iPhone models but also of Samsung’s flagships.

The even better news for Apple is that four of the five top-selling devices in the second month of the year were iPhones, and CR says the company managed to improve volumes by as much as 5 percent versus February 2017. “However, its market share slipped lower as the new downward curve of its product cycle continues,” CR notes.

iPhone X topped sales with 5.1%, followed by iPhone 8 with 3.1% and iPhone 7 with 2.2%. The iPhone 7 sold particularly well thanks to discounts after the launch of the 2017 generation. The bigger iPhone 8 Plus is fourth with 1.9%, while Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A … (read more)
