iPhone, Android Embark on Crazy Roller Coaster Ride in Latest Share Figures

Android and iOS are currently the world’s two dominant mobile operating systems, and statistics provided by Kantar for the three-month period ending March 2018 show that their sales share has gone up and down in several large markets across the world.

Specifically, Android dropped 1.9% in Germany to 75.8%, while iOS improved 4.4% to 22.9%, with the two platforms having a completely opposite performance in the UK. In this country, Android went up 5.6% to 62.7%, while iOS declined 4.2% to 37%.

Similar figures were recorded in Spain as well, as Apple improved 5.5% to 13.6%, while Android lost 5.3% to 86.1%. Overall, in the EU5 region Android posted a growth of 1 percentage point to 77%, while iOS improved 0.9% to 22.1%.

Apple’s performance in the United States was flat versus the three-month period ending March 2017, sticking with a sales share of 39 percent, while Android improved 0.1% to reach 59.1%.
