Apple Violates Its Own Rules, Spams iPhone Users with Limited-Time Promo

Apple is known as a company that enforces quite a lot of limitations on both developers and users, and as far as the first category is concerned, Cupertino doesn’t typically agree with any violation of its rules.

One of them is the way apps send notifications to users, as Apple does not allow any promotions to be highlighted in messages that show up on iOS devices.

And yet, Apple has recently used push notifications to advertise a limited-time promo for the Music app on a number of iPhones in the United States.

“Give the Gift of Music,” the title of the notification reads. “Tap to give a friend a free month of Apple Music.”

As 9to5mac notes, the promo allows users to get a maximum of four months of the service completely free of charge.
