Apple Releases watchOS 5.1.1 with Fix for Issue That Bricked Apple Watch Devices

Apple released today the watchOS 5.1.1 software update for Apple Watch devices after pulling the watchOS 5.1 release last week due to an issue that bricked the Apple Watch 4 series.

Last week, Apple was quick to remove the watchOS 5.1 software update it developed during the past month because of multiple reports of bricked Apple Watch devices, including the latest Apple Watch Series 4 models. Therefore, users were left in the dark with either a bricked device or with an older software version.

It took the company one more week to fix the bricking issue and include the patch in the watchOS 5.1.1 (build number 16R600) software update released today, which is now available for all supported Apple Watch devices running watchOS 5.0.1 or watchOS 5.1 via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates.
