Apple Releases iOS 12.0.1 with iPhone XS Lightning Charging and Wi-Fi 5Ghz Fixes

Apple released today the first minor point release to its latest iOS 12 mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, to fix various bugs and annoyances with the latest iPhone models.

Joining the tvOS 12.0.1 and watchOS 5.0.1 bugfix releases announced at the end of September, the iOS 12.0.1 bugfix release is here to address an issue for iPhone XS models where the devices won’t immediatley charge when they are connected to the Lightning charging cable.

The iOS 12.0.1 software update also resolves an issue that could cause iPhone XS devices to reconnect on a 5Ghz Wi-Fi network at 2.4Ghz speeds instead of 5Ghz, restores the original position of the “.?123” key on the keyboard for iPad devices, and fixes a bug that could have made Bluetooth to become unavailable.

Also fixed is an issue for all iPhone and iPad devices where subtitles may not be displayed in various video playback apps. As expected, iOS 12.0.1 includes various security fixes, though … (read more)
