Apple Once Again the World’s Number One Phone Maker in Q4 2021

New data shared by IDC for the fourth quarter of the last year reveals that Apple was once again the world’s number one phone maker thanks to solid iPhone 13 performance.

More specifically, the Cupertino-based tech giant dominated Q4 2021 thanks to the iPhone 13 selling like hotcakes, though overall, the company still declined 2.9 percent in terms of year-over-year market share evolution.

Apple sold a total of 84.9 million iPhones during the quarter, enough to secure a 23.4 percent market share, but down from 87.5 million units in the same quarter a year before.

Samsung was the runner-up with 68.9 million phones sold across the world, and this means the South Koreans are holding a market share of 19 percent. For Samsung, this is a notable increase from 63.7 million units in Q4 2020, so its market share jumped 8.1 percent.
