Data provided by research firm Counterpoint shows that Apple recorded the biggest profit in the third quarter of 2017 in the mobile industry, with long-time rival Samsung taking the runner-up place, but with more than half its share.
Counterpoint says Apple profit share accounted for 59.8 percent, while Samsung is second with “just” 25.9 percent. And while the difference between the two is huge, this is actually a decline for the iPhone maker from 85.9 percent year-over-year.
Huawei is third in the charts with a growth from 3.3% to 4.9%, followed by OPPO with 4.0%. Vivo is last in the top with 3.1%.
The research firm explains that Chinese phone manufacturers are growing at a fast pace and the last quarter their cumulative profit cross $1.5 billion for the first time.
